Terms of Use

Last updated: 11 May 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Street-Lawyer UK mobile application (the "App"), the Street-Lawyer UK website at streetlawyeruk.com (the "Site"), the Street-Lawyer UK Pocket Handbook PDF (the "Handbook"), and any related content or services (together the "Service"). By installing the App, using the Site, or purchasing the Handbook, you agree to these Terms.

Important — not legal advice. Street-Lawyer UK provides general legal information only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor on your specific circumstances. If you are facing a real legal issue, please contact a solicitor, Citizens Advice (0800 144 8848), or — if you are in police custody — the duty solicitor at the police station (free of charge for everyone).

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by the operator of Street-Lawyer UK ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at support@streetlawyeruk.com.

2. Subscriptions and one-off purchases

2.1 Subscription tiers

The App is offered on two annual subscription tiers, both auto-renewing through your Apple App Store account:

2.2 One-off Handbook purchase

The Street-Lawyer UK Pocket Handbook is available as a one-off PDF download from the Site for £19.99 (paid via PayPal or Stripe). Each PDF is personalised with the purchaser's email address as a watermark. The licence granted is for the purchaser's personal, single-user use only — see Section 4.

2.3 Daily question allowances

Daily AI question allowances reset at 00:00 UTC each day. Unused allowance does not roll over. The allowances stated above represent the maximum number of AI requests permitted per 24-hour period; we reserve the right to rate-limit traffic that appears automated, scripted, or otherwise inconsistent with reasonable personal use.

2.4 Auto-renewal and cancellation

App Store subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each annual period at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store account (Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the current paid period.

2.5 Refunds and the digital-content waiver

Subscription refunds for the mobile app are handled by Apple and Google under their respective standard refund policies. You can request an iOS subscription refund via reportaproblem.apple.com.

The Pocket Handbook (PDF) is a one-off digital download. Under Regulation 37 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, by completing your purchase you (i) expressly consent to immediate delivery of the digital content, and (ii) acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel. A free sample chapter is provided so you can evaluate the content before committing to purchase. Accordingly, all Pocket Handbook sales are final and non-refundable.

The only exception is a genuine technical fault preventing delivery (for example, the email never arriving and not being recoverable by re-sending). In that narrow case, please contact support@streetlawyeruk.com within 7 days of purchase quoting your order reference, and we will re-deliver the file or, at our discretion, issue a refund.

3. Personal-situation safeguard

The AI Legal Assistant is configured to provide general legal information only. If you describe your own specific circumstances (for example, "I was arrested last night", "my landlord is..."), the AI will respond in hypothetical / general terms and signpost you to a qualified solicitor or Citizens Advice. The AI will not tell you whether you have a defence, what to plead, what to say to police, or speculate on the outcome of any criminal or civil case. Please follow the AI's signposting and consult a qualified solicitor for advice on your specific case.

4. Copyright and permitted use

All scenarios, AI prompts, summaries, system text, the Handbook content, and the Site copy are © 2026 Street-Lawyer UK and protected by copyright. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:

You may not:

Breach of this section is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate termination of your subscription, removal of access, and (where the breach is wilful) referral to our legal advisers.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse the Service to harass anyone; attempt to circumvent rate limits, paywalls or the subscription tier system; reverse-engineer the App; or use the Service in furtherance of any unlawful activity.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and other terms (whether express or implied) that the Service is free of errors, will meet your particular requirements, or that any information returned by the AI Legal Assistant is accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your circumstances. Always verify any statutory references and case-law citations against authoritative sources such as legislation.gov.uk and bailii.org.

7. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under English law. Subject to that, our total liability to you for any loss arising out of or in connection with the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to liability. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special losses, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or any decision you make in reliance on information provided by the Service.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change. If a change materially reduces your rights as an existing subscriber, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice and you may cancel your subscription at any time as described in Section 2.4.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England & Wales. The courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute (subject to your statutory rights as a consumer to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction).
